BEI is a NPO that raises funds to invest in space research. Its missions include the pooling of skills, the organisation of seminars and conferences, and more generally the implementation of all measures necessary for the advancement of scientific research.

BEI aims to promote the sustainability of space, to educate and train people in aerospace-related fields, to promote international cooperation, and to assist in the development of space-related legislation and public policy.
