Gurtug Gok

Musician


Saxophonist and composer Gurtug Gok started his music education in 2002 in Istanbul Technical University ( I.T.U ) Turkish Music State Conservatory - High School, Instrument Department of traditional flute "kaval"



Between 2007-2008 he had been in Rome by taking advantage of the Erasmus exchange program and studied composition at the Santa Cecillia Conservatory. While in Italy, he both made the arrangements of some folk songs and his own compositions which performed at the Dilruba Trio concert supported by Theodoros Amasya - Turkish Cultural Association.



After graduating from ( I.T.U ) Turkish Music State Conservatory, with the interest of jazz music he started to play saxophone.



Meanwhile, he was awarded as the best improvisation in the "JAmZZ 22nd Akbank Jazz Festival Young Talent Competition" with the alto saxophone performance. He also worked and played with John Ellis, Aaron Goldberg and Marco Tamburini at the workshops in Chioggia which was a part of 6th edition Venice Jazz Festival.



He has performed in many albums of such great Turkish artists like Fazil Say, Sezen Aksu, Guvenc Dagustun, Burcin Buke, Dilek Turkan, Hande Yener and many others. He still shares the stage with many other musicians leading the different styles in Turkey.



As well as the usual stage works, he is currently working on his own projects and compositions.
