Volunteer Dog Training- Helping You Train Your Dog

Volunteer Dog Training is East Tennessee’s affordable dog training service. We teach you how to train your dog with proven positive training methods in your home. Just because we are affordable does not mean we lack experience or professionalism. Quite the opposite, Volunteer Dog Training is the evolution of Dixie Dog Training with the same commitment to our clients and their dogs. Volunteer Dog Training provides each of our clients individual training solutions that include unlimited phone and e-mail support for the life of their dog.

We also provide training support to rural shelters in East Tennessee via staff training, adopter information sheets, and group classes.

Volunteer Dog Training’s owner and trainer, Julie Caldwell, has been a certified professional dog trainer since 2005 and is an active member of the Pet Professional Guild. Julie is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. Growing up Julie had various dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, and fish. She also pet sat for friends and neighbors. Julie went off to college and studied communications all the while dreaming of the day when she could have a dog or cat of her own. While attending graduate school in Boston Julie adopted a cat, Puc, who she taught to walk on a leash. After Graduate School in Boston, Julie moved to Knoxville TN to continue her education. Just before leaving for Knoxville, Julie adopted a Golden Retriever named Obi Wan. During her time studying in Knoxville, Julie found her true passion: working with dogs and their people. While working at a big box pet store, Julie gained her professional dog trainer certification and began teaching group classes in February of 2006. In January of 2011 Julie recognized the need for a more personal approach to teaching people to teach their dogs, so she left the big box pet store and founded Dixie Dog Training, which became Volunteer Dog Training.

Why Volunteer Dog Training? Because Tennessee is the Volunteer State and helping people and their dogs is what Julie loves to do.
